PTT Minutes

Commencement:

PTT meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Susan Crabtree, President.

Meeting was opened with prayer by Hal Hayes and pledge led by Susan Crabtree.

Minutes and Treasurer’s report were handed out and accepted as presented.

Committee Reports:

No committee reports given at this time. A brief description of each committee’s (Fundraiser, Hospitality, Beautification, FCA, Scrips, Cafeteria, History, and Athletics) function and objectives was provided by Susan Crabtree.

Principal’s Report –

Issues Addressed:

One teaching vacancy exists and should be filled by end of week.
The school is applying for a grant which would provide funds to hire a full time guidance counselor.
Dr. Pugh explained that charter and public schools are under many of the same regulations including student performance.
Dr. Pugh provided an update on the school’s performance on end of year tests. Math and writing scores continue to have room for improvement. The requirements regarding state testing as it relates to graduation were reviewed.
Report cards will now be issued every six weeks. The purpose of this is to attempt to minimize the apparent decrease in effort by the students at the end of each nine weeks. By issuing report cards every six weeks students will know they do not have any time to let up on their study habits.
Dr. Pugh provided an update on some positive improvements made at Clover Garden including:

1) Acquisition of activity bus in very good condition.

2) Renovation to bathroom facilities.

3) Sidewalks added outside the school by bus area.

4) Cable television now available in classrooms.

5) A P.E. teacher will be provided by Burlington Recreation Department.

6) Water/sewer permits issued through 2012.

7) Every classroom in K-5 has three computers. The elementary lab has 19 computers and the high school lab now has 28 computers.

Increased dietary regulations will require some adjustments to the cafeteria. Soft drink machine will likely be removed. Breakfast and lunch prices will remain the same, ala carte items will increase slightly.
Dr. Pugh requested that PTT assist with a beautification project outside the front of the school.

Old Business:

Open House is August 16^th from 5-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served and the teachers will be provided with food.

Work day scheduled for Saturday, August 18^th. Teachers will leave list of things they need done to prepare for beginning of school year.

PTT dues will be $5.00 per person and $10 per family.

Next PTT meeting September 4^th at 7:00.
