Ms. Wall’s Geometry
Tutoring Monday 2:50-3:30

Welcome to a new school year! I look forward to working with you this year and seeing what you can accomplish. I know this year will be filled with many successes, and we will work hard to achieve our goals. I wanted to take this opportunity to set forth my expectations so you are aware of what I will be expecting of you.
Supplies you will need for each day:
ü Math book
ü Pencil and Pens (Homework should be done in pencil, the pens are for checking homework)
ü 3 ring binder with plenty of paper
ü Calculator
ü Ready to learn with a good attitude
Grading scale:
Ø Homework / Class work 45%
Ø Test / Quizzes 45%
Ø Notebook 10%
Classroom policies:
§ Be on time and prepared for class.
§ Be respectful of classmates and school property.
§ Be obedient to all handbook rules.
Homework:
There will a brief time at the beginning of class for students to ask me about homework questions they attempted the night before but were not successful. I will answer these questions on the board allowing every student to check their work so they also may be successful, if they were not the first time. We will then check the homework in class. This means you know, that day, if you missed several problems and need to get some extra help. Then homework will be turned into the box in the front room marked for that class period.
Each homework assignment is due the next day unless told other wise, which is not often. NO homework will be accepted late. If you receive a progress report with the work no for a grade it means I received no homework that day and the grade value is a 0. I understand that we are sometimes forgetful or things out of the ordinary happens for this reason I will be dropping everyone’s lowest grade each 6 weeks. So do not panic if one assignment is not up to par. Also you may redo any homework assignment that you turned in on time but the grade was below your personal standards.
If you are absent you have 3 days per absence to complete the missing work. After 3 days the grade will be changed to a no or 0.
Notebook:
ü Section with daily notes and examples from the board
ü Section with paper for homework. This should include handouts from class and any work handed back to you.
ü Section for theorems. These should be written out as given to you from the teacher followed by an explanation of the theorem in your own words.
Tips to pass the class:
1. Be organized! Organization is the key to passing any class, especially math. Keep things in order; know where things are and what is expected of you.
2. Ask questions! No one understands everything the first time. Your education is now your responsibility. It is not my job to make you learn. It is my job to help you understand the new information so you will be successful through life. Please fill free to tell me what you do not understand so we may work through it together. Chances are you are not the only one with that question.
3. Do your homework! Homework is the best way to study for test. This is also how we can help catch any topics that have not been understood.
4. Stay for tutoring! If you feel that you need help outside the classroom please feel free to stay for tutoring. This will be on Mondays directly after school. Please be courteous and tell me in class that day if you plan to stay.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer your questions. You may email me at wendi.wall@clovergardenschool.com this is also a link on our school web page. I will check my email daily and respond as soon as possible. This is the best way to contact me. However if email is not your thing you may contact me by calling the school between 3:00 and 4:00.
Thank you for your cooperation it will make the year go smoother for everyone.
