Homework to look for…

I would like for everyone to know about homework. It always seems to become an issue every year. I have a weekly reading comprehension sheet and weekly grammar and mechanics sheet. I hand them out every Monday and they are due on Friday. The students will have math most every night. There will be a Language arts assignment once or twice a week.

Homework is not accepted late.

We are working on….

We have finished our first unit in every subject. We have talked about nouns, rocks & minerals, how fossils are made, and maps. We are working on place value and ordering and comparing numbers and we will finish reading the novel Tales of the 4th Grade Nothing.

We are starting verbs, volcanoes and earthquakes, North Carolina geography, continue work with place value and work on basic operations. We will start reading Treasure Island and a weekly serial from the newspaper titled The Secret School.

We have started the writing workshop to learn how to become professional writers. I am stressing to the class that the amount of sentences is not what writing is about. The story is important, but so is grammar and mechanics. I would like for everyone to work on the language sheets every week.
