Welcome to the 2008-2009 School Year

What you need to know:

Homework will be assigned every night except:

v Fridays (unless there is some on going project due)

v Test days ( in the subject area)

v Planners are required and need to be signed daily by the teacher /parent. This is a great way for parents to keep informed on what is going on in the classroom, write notes to the teacher, etc. Test and quiz grades will be written there as well since papers get “lost” between here and home.

v Assignments are written on the blackboard daily- no guessing about what is homework. Parents can come by and check it also for makeup work.

Students do need to take notes during class and actively participate in discussions.

Grading:

v 60% Tests, quizzes & essays

v 30 % class work, homework & projects

v 10 % participation

Expectations:

v Have a great year and be successful

v Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings and ready to start by being quiet. Be prepared for class every day by having what you need to be successful ( pencils, homework, paper, textbook, good attitude, willingness to learn)
